ISSUE: Work-stoppage and funding freeze of USAID

Program Partner: Catholic Relief Services (Faith & Poverty: A Global Response)

UPDATE – Catholic Relief Services (CRS) issued the following statement in response to Secretary Rubio’s statement on the completion of the International Humanitarian Assistance review:

“As part of the Catholic Church, Catholic Relief Services believes that human life is a precious gift from God that must be protected and nurtured. Over the past six weeks, CRS has had to halt much of our U.S. government supported work due to the lack of payments: food in warehouses could not be distributed to the hungry and women and children could not get vital health and nutrition services. In addition, last week’s termination of dozens of CRS’ life-saving projects will permanently cut off critical aid to more than 20 million people worldwide… keep reading

This program has been terminated as a result of the cuts to USAID. Amina Bukar and other nursing mothers in Nigeria were receiving training and food supplements for malnourished children to aid their recovery. Amina served as a lead mother coordinating nutrition activities for her community through a CRS project as part of a multi-sectoral, integrated program funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance to provide context-specific humanitarian assistance. Its area-based approach was working to advance participants from lifesaving assistance to life-building support.

ISSUES: Protect Brady Background Checks, Regulate Bump Stocks, Ban Assault Weapons, Urge Senators: Oppose Kash Patel, Oppose Hidden Firearms (+ other priorities)

Program Partner: Brady United (Preventing Gun Violence: From Rhetoric to Real Solutions)

URGE CONGRESS: Oppose Hidden, Loaded Firearms Everywhere!

The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would create a concealed carry mandate and drastically increase the number of people carrying hidden, loaded firearms everywhere — in parks, playgrounds, and on public transportation — regardless of state or local law. This is a recipe for disaster.

There are 29 states that allow permitless carry with few to no safety standards — not even screening or firearms training. Under a concealed carry mandate, states with stronger standards would be forced to allow those from states with weaker or no standards to carry hidden firearms within their borders. Allowing untrained, unvetted, and unlicensed individuals to carry hidden, loaded firearms makes it harder for police to identify who is a credible threat, leading to increased violence and distrust between the police and vulnerable communities. Permitless carry laws already see higher rates of gun violence, including a 29% increase in violent crime.

This bill is not only deadly to our communities, but it is also deeply unpopular with the majority of Americans and law enforcement nationwide. Three in 4 Americans, including the majority of Republicans and gun owners and the International Association of Chiefs of Police oppose a concealed carry mandate.

The American people DO NOT want the gun lobby’s dystopian future with guns everywhere — and your representatives in Congress need to know that. Will you please urge your representatives to OPPOSE this deadly concealed carry mandate? It’s on the move in Congress, and we need to do everything in our power to STOP it before it makes it to the House floor. Please make your voice heard today!

Call on Congress to Protect Funding for Clean Energy Projects

ISSUES: Vote “no” on the “No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities” Act (HR 32), Oppose the illegal actions by Elon Musk–an unelected private citizen, who violates protections in our Constitution

Organization: NETWORK Lobby

If H.R. 32 is enacted, the Trump administration would have the power to cut off federal funding to nearly 700 communities across 28 states and Washington, D.C. And tens of millions of American families would be at risk of losing vital services, from school lunches to their local bus line, for reasons unrelated to immigration.

Contact Congress to Oppose H.R. 32

ISSUES: Poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, and more

Organization: Catholic Charities USA

The relentless attacks by the Trump-Vance Administration on working families and people in our communities–as well as attempts to dismantle the very fabric of our democracy by unelected billionaire Elon Musk, demands a response.
