ISSUE: Work-stoppage and funding freeze of USAID
Program Partner: Catholic Relief Services (Faith & Poverty: A Global Response)
UPDATE – Catholic Relief Services (CRS) issued the following statement in response to Secretary Rubio’s statement on the completion of the International Humanitarian Assistance review:
“As part of the Catholic Church, Catholic Relief Services believes that human life is a precious gift from God that must be protected and nurtured. Over the past six weeks, CRS has had to halt much of our U.S. government supported work due to the lack of payments: food in warehouses could not be distributed to the hungry and women and children could not get vital health and nutrition services. In addition, last week’s termination of dozens of CRS’ life-saving projects will permanently cut off critical aid to more than 20 million people worldwide… keep reading

Foreign AID Backgrounder

This program has been terminated as a result of the cuts to USAID. Amina Bukar and other nursing mothers in Nigeria were receiving training and food supplements for malnourished children to aid their recovery. Amina served as a lead mother coordinating nutrition activities for her community through a CRS project as part of a multi-sectoral, integrated program funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance to provide context-specific humanitarian assistance. Its area-based approach was working to advance participants from lifesaving assistance to life-building support.
ISSUES: Protect Brady Background Checks, Regulate Bump Stocks, Ban Assault Weapons, Urge Senators: Oppose Kash Patel (+ other priorities)
Program Partner: Brady United (Preventing Gun Violence: From Rhetoric to Real Solutions)
The Trump administration is pursuing a large-scale rights restoration program, which would automatically reinstate firearm access for domestic abusers, gun traffickers, and individuals with felony convictions.
Firearms are the weapons of choice for domestic violence homicides. In fact, the mere presence of a firearm in a domestic violence situation increases the risk of a person being killed by 500%. Additionally, 60% of mass shootings in the United States were either domestic violence attacks or perpetrated by those with a history of domestic violence, and firearms are already the leading cause of death for youth in this nation.
Every day, 100 people in America die from gun violence. Our elected officials have a responsibility to address this crisis. Sign a petition and demand change in your community today!

ISSUE: Protect communities from climate-fueled disasters
Program Partner: Creation Justice Ministries (Eco-Justice Series)

Creation Justice Ministries specializes in helping Christian communities to engage at the federal level of US government.

If H.R. 32 is enacted, the Trump administration would have the power to cut off federal funding to nearly 700 communities across 28 states and Washington, D.C. Organization: Catholic Charities USA
The relentless attacks by the Trump-Vance Administration on working families and people in our communities–as well as attempts to dismantle the very fabric of our democracy by unelected billionaire Elon Musk, demands a response.
