The new JustFaith program invites participants to look at contemporary issues through the lens of Christian faith by engaging in reading, prayer, thought-provoking dialogue, encounter, and by building lasting relationships with a small group. JustFaith is now available as a 24-week program or in three eight-week phases that can be done individually or together.

Phase I: Living Compassionately – Caring for the Poor

JustFaith participants focus on poverty, consumerism, and the Gospel call to care for the poor.

Phase II: Living Justly – Caring for Each Other

Inspired by a new level of understanding about issues of racial and economic justice, JustFaith participants will develop new levels of passion and compassion for the ongoing work of social justice.

Phase III: Living Simply – Caring for the Earth

JustFaith participants embrace the invitation to care for the Earth as they investigate the teachings of our faith.

Program Overview

Using materials provided upon registration, two or more participants co-facilitate the process.

JustFaith is available as a single program that includes twenty-four 2 ½-hour sessions, or by taking the program over time in three phases that include eight 2 ½ hour sessions each. All sessions include prayer, dialogue, active listening, and relationship-building. Some sessions also include videos and/or guest speakers.

The most essential resource is the community formed through the JustFaith process.  Participants deepen their understanding through in-depth reading of several books and viewing a number of online materials.

The ideal group size is 8–12 people; a small faith-sharing group that is connected through deep listening, dialogue, and trust.

Immersions and Retreats

To broaden perspectives, each of the 3 phases include an immersion where participants visit local organizations and connect with those living and working on the margins of society. Each phase also contains a retreat that provides a foundation for community building.

What They’re Saying

- Marisol H.
Virginia Beach, VA
“What is different since I completed JustFaith? The way I pray; the way I eat; the way I shop; the way I parent; the way I serve; the way I view community; the way I view neighbor; the way I view enemy; the way I participate in church and community; the way I participate in policy issues; the way I begin and end my day.”
- Jack K., Austin, TX
“JustFaith was a major conversion in my life. The lens through which I look at the world—politics, economics, relationships, etc.—changed. I now see the world through the eyes of those who live on the margins, and ask myself how I can better serve my fellow members of my human family. Every segment of JustFaith awakened something deep within me that helped to form me in new ways, ways that were noticeably more compassionate than what I had previously been living.”
- Steve R.
Denver, CO
“JustFaith enlarges a person’s perspective on the world. By looking at sometimes difficult truths, we see beyond the comfort of our secure environment. JustFaith shows us how to be an authentic follower of Christ and a true citizen of the planet.”

During the JustFaith program, a deep awakening took root in me to make a difference in the world, no matter how large or small.

– Mary L., Janesville, WI

Frequently Asked Questions

Are participants expected to complete all the phases?

The JF program can be offered in one of two ways:

  • As a full 24-week program with the same participants from beginning to end and with an extended two-day opening retreat and closing retreat. If offering JF as a 24-week program, we recommend weekly meetings with no more than two weeks between phases.
  • As three (separate) eight-week phases in which anyone can register for one, two, or all three phases. If JF is offered in the three phase format, there is a shorter, community-building retreat; an immersion experience, and a call to action in each phase. There is no closing retreat if offering JF in three phases.

Does the program registration fee cover the full cost of the program?

No. Program fees and resources provide only about 25% of the cost of program development and maintenance. The majority of the cost of each program is provided by generous donations from past program participants. We are also sustained by the support of our partner organizations and grants. JustFaith Ministries relies on these partners to make sure all programs are affordable for churches, organizations, and individuals who want to participate in our mission.

What is required of co-facilitators?

Facilitators are not expected to be the expert or “teacher” with all the answers.

Guided by user-friendly materials and with support from JustFaith Ministries staff (as needed),

JustFaith co-facilitators:

  • gather materials, coordinate logistics, and prepare to facilitate a session
  • express a genuine interest in the social mission of the Church
  • are capable of overseeing a group conversation
  • are attentive to the needs and energies of the group
