A Message from Dr. Lewis Brogdon, Executive Director
I am deeply honored to join JustFaith Ministries as its next Executive Director. For many years, I have admired and partnered with this extraordinary organization as it has helped form people of faith who take seriously the Gospel call to love widely, seek justice, and walk faithfully with neighbors near and far.
At its best, Christian faith does not shrink our world. It enlarges it. JustFaith has long been a place where people discover that discipleship is not only about personal devotion, but about being drawn more deeply into the healing, suffering, and hope of the world God loves. It is a ministry that helps people see that love of God and love of neighbor are never separable and that both must be lived with courage, humility, and joy.
In the years ahead, I believe JustFaith is being called to enlarge the circle even more and to welcome new neighbors, new voices, and new communities into this work of formation and faithful engagement. The Gospel has always been about widening the table and discovering that our “neighbor” is far larger than we imagined. My hope is that JustFaith will continue to be a home for its long-standing friends and partners, while also becoming a welcoming doorway for churches, leaders, and communities who may not yet know this work, but who are deeply hungry for exactly what it offers.
I come to this role as a scholar, teacher, pastor, and nonprofit leader who has spent more than two decades working at the intersection of faith, education, and social transformation, especially in building and leading mission-driven programs within colleges, seminaries, and faith-based institutions. My vocational life has been shaped by launching and directing new initiatives, forming leaders, and helping institutions align their mission with real-world impact. Along that journey, I have had the privilege over the past six years of partnering closely with JustFaith through webinars, programs, and public events, including during moments of national crisis when churches and communities were searching for faithful ways to respond. Those experiences have only deepened my conviction that JustFaith plays a vital and unique role in helping people integrate spiritual formation, social analysis, and concrete action. My commitment is to honor and strengthen what has been built, while helping JustFaith step boldly into its next chapter.
In the months ahead, my early priorities will include listening deeply to staff, board members, partners, and participants, strengthening donor relationships and organizational sustainability, and helping guide a strategic planning process that clarifies our focus and expands our impact. I am especially excited about cultivating new partnerships across churches, denominations, educational institutions, and community organizations, and about extending the reach of JustFaith into new communities and new neighborhoods of faith.
At a time when many people feel overwhelmed, fragmented, or discouraged, JustFaith offers something profoundly needed. It offers a way of forming people who are spiritually grounded, socially engaged, and hopeful about the possibility of real change. This work matters. It changes lives. It changes churches. And, by God’s grace, it helps change the world.
I am grateful to the Board of Directors for their trust, and to the staff and community of JustFaith for the warmth of their welcome. I look forward to walking together in this shared calling and to discovering, again and again, how much larger God’s neighborhood really is.
