Dean Pedrotti is a Captain in the Phoenix Fire Department. Inspired by his JustFaith program experience, he decided to concentrate his efforts on creating a training for First Responder units (including firefighters and police officers, who have the most military vets in their work forces,) to sensitize them to the needs of returning combat veterans. He spearheaded a system-wide training designed to help recognize a veteran in need, familiarize colleagues with PTS symptoms, and offered positive strategies to approach vets in crisis. Dean’s “Wounded Warrior” model –incorporating  vets telling their own stories–was inspired by the JustFaith program model. For his work in this area, Dean on September 29, 2013, was honored with the 100 Club’s Firefighter of the Year award. Learn more about Dean’s training model here.
