Join us on Thursday, June 16, 7:00 PM ET, for a presentation by Chuck Collins entitled, “Inequality and the Beloved Community: A Faithful Response to Extreme Wealth Inequality and the Racial Wealth Divide.”

Overview: The extreme inequality of income, wealth and opportunity undermines everything we care about.  The imbalance of wealth and power tears our communities apart, undermines trust and democracy, supercharges the racial divide, destabilizes the economy, and much more.  How can we as people of faith respond to the challenges of a polarized economy and the resulting polarized politics?  What are the cultural stories that justify inequality and how can we shift them?  How can we crack open hearts and minds to come together to build an economy that works for everyone?

About the speaker: Chuck Collins is the Director of the Program on Inequality and the Common Good at the Institute for Policy Studies where he co-edits Inequality.org.  His new book, The Wealth Hoarders: How Billionaires Pay Millions to Hide Trillions, is about the wealth hiding industry. He is author of the popular book, Born on Third Base: A One Percenter Makes the Case for Tackling Inequality, Bringing Wealth Home, and Committing to the Common Good; and, with Bill Gates Sr., Wealth and Our Commonwealth, a case for taxing inherited fortunes. He is also co-author, with Mary Wright, of The Moral Measure of the Economy (Orbis), about Christian ethics and economic life.  He is a founding board member of the group, Patriotic Millionaires.
