Hope in Hard Places

Many people are feeling the weight of “election blues” in an already difficult time for those committed to justice and peace. In recent years, we’ve seen setbacks like Supreme Court decisions in 2022 and 2023, the rise of White Christian Nationalism, the spread of misinformation, attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion in both state universities and major corporations – and now Donald Trump’s decisive victory over Kamala Harris. Political extremism on both the left and right continues to divide us, while some Christian leaders seem to serve the state rather than uphold prophetic justice. Together, these forces threaten the very fabric of our democracy and cast a long shadow over our future.

As many ask, “Where is the hope?” and “How can we find the strength to keep pushing for change?” we invite you to join us for the next “Acting for Justice” event. We are honored to welcome back Dr. Lewis Brogdon, who will speak on Hope in Hard Places, drawing wisdom from scripture and the “hopeful strength” tradition of the Black Church.
