1. God's Creation Cries for Justice. Climate Change: Impact and Response JustFaith Ministries announces the availability of an important education and faith formation study. In conjunction with the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change, we are offering this study module for use by faith communities.
The approach of the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change and Catholic Bishops’ Environmental Justice Program has been to focus on the themes of prudence, poverty and the common good, as well as Catholic Social Teaching. This module will expand and explore these principles and will have a strong emphasis on how climate change will impact the poor at home and abroad.
The eight week program will draw out other arguments for and against action and to demonstrate—in a faithful and scientific way—the hazards to poor people of doing nothing . This module will include action items for stopping further global warming (mitigation) and what will be needed to help the poor who are impacted by climate change. 2. Prison Reform: The Church of the Second Chance - This module, Prison Reform: Church of the Second Chance, consists of 6 sessions, although groups are encouraged to add an immersion experience as a seventh session. Each session is 2 1/2 hours in length. The module title comes from the latest book, Church of the Second Chance (Lantern Books, 2008), by the module developer, Jens Soering. Soering is an inmate who has written three other books while in prison, including the award winning The Convict Christ (Orbis, 2006). A flyer for the module is available here.
